H&D is a London based turnkey consultancy which plans and manages domestic and International communications programmes returning benefit, value and targeted reputation growth. Dependent upon the requirement, we create expert teams who plan and deliver against specific programme objectives, and interface between a Client, its publics and stakeholders.


We have the expertise that longevity brings, the confidence to respond actively to the brief and the capability to deliver quality and value. Founded in the early 80’s H&D has weathered two major recessions and has executed complex briefs on behalf of major organisations and institutions. Diverse in nature, H&D often challenges traditional methods, and looks far outside the box to deliver exciting and effective communications programmes.

We are strategic and comprehensive specialists in International corporate and brand marketing, advertising, design, PR and promotion - offering a totally integrated marketing communications package, which can be adapted to respond to a Clients requirements and brief. This can be targeted narrowly and specifically, or widened to encompass a full ranging programme. Public Relations is but the beginning ….


We are no different to any other agency or consultancy in that we think we are different.

  • There are aspects of our operation that we share with most other companies; some that are fairly common; and some that are exclusive to us. What we share with most others is largely methodology and logistics. What we share with some is the remarkably wide experience of the team that we can bring to bear; ex-journalists, ex-clients, ex-advertising people; some who have worked in consultancies and agencies all their lives and some whose first such experience is through us. Ours is an unusual discipline in that it calls for wider spread of knowledge than most - we have that knowledge.
  • On a more practical level, and again shared with some other companies, is that we are essentially strategists and executors. Our Clients want to see results, with good thinking, quick understanding and fast, appropriate action.
  • Where we are different is how we build the team - the team that will work on your business. Over the past ten or more years, we have perfected the art of team building by taking the plexic approach. This means that we can select the right people to create the best team, and thus to do the best job - without being restricted by the limitations of the experience and capabilities of in-house employees, as are many of today’s agencies.
  • This also enables us to control costs, with a small central team lacking the need for costly overheads and expensive HQ buildings.


Hammond & Deacon Ltd (H&D) was formed in the early 1980’s by the amalgamation of The Public Relations Department Ltd (a MultiCom Group company), and Susan Deacon & Associates (the Leo Burnett PR arm).


John Hammond is the principal of the consultancy. He has been in consultancy management since the mid 1970’s, and has been MD of H&D and its predecessor company since that time. He is a member of CIPR, the Chartered Institute of Public Relations, and is a Fellow of The Institute of Directors.
