Appleton Estate Jamaica Rum Ambassador in the UK, Jamie McDonald (seen here) was on hand in London to toast the launch of ‘The Rare Rum Club’ at Floridita, one of the city’s leading nightspots, where the Rare Rum Club will have a permanent home.
The brainchild of Richard Woods, Floridita’s Bars Manager, the Rare Rum Club has it’s own permanent display of super-premium and now-virtually-extinct rums from all over the World . The club is to meet on the 3rd Wednesday of each month, and will feature a tutored tasting of a really rare rum.
The picture here gives detail from the main display cabinet which is a permanent fixture at the venue and which proudly displays an aged flagon of Appleton Reserve 20 year old from times gone by.
The high spot of this launch event was a tasting of Appleton Estate 30 Year Old tutored by Jamie, and attended by journalists, new club members and leaders of London’s Club scene. “To be the rum selected for tasting at this inaugural event is an honour indeed,” says Jamie, “and gave us the chance to place Appleton’s Estate rums at the very top of the tree…”
An Appleton Estate back bar display greeted guests on arrival at the new Rare Rum Club at London’s Floridita. 50 top members of London’s Bar and Club scene listened to Jamie explaining that the 30 year old rum was a very part of the history of this wonderful spirit.
